A Saskatoon Wedding Full of Depth and Nostalgia

There’s so much I could say about this Saskatoon wedding—so many fun, emotional, unforgettable moments. But to really capture the heart of this story, we need to go back to where it all began. It’s a story I’ll cherish and tell forever.

Fun fact: when I started my business at 16, I was actually doing wedding videography, not photography. I had people telling me I needed to choose one or the other (spoiler: you don’t), so I focused on building a career in video. Photography felt intriguing but out of reach.

During a family trip to Banff, Alberta, I naturally wanted to create a travel video. I spent my time filming sunrises, capturing wildlife, and getting drone shots of the winding riverbeds through Jasper and Banff. While shooting video at Lake Moraine, I noticed a couple trying to take self-timer photos on a fallen tree. I wanted to help, but photography wasn’t “my thing.” My mom and sister gently nudged me to offer, and after some hesitation, I asked if they’d like me to take a few photos. I had never really explored the photo settings on my camera, so it was nerve-wracking. Butttt they said yes.

We did a quick, impromptu shoot and I had an absolute blast. I immediately imported the photos to my iPhone and edited them on VSCO (not my proudest moment, haha), however, they loved the results and they’re at the bottom of the gallery so you can be the judge! ;)

That experience was a turning point. I started advertising both video and photo on my small Instagram account, and magic happened. People began booking me for photography, and I quickly fell in love with the art of freezing moments in stills.

Fast forward a few years: Jeeha and Jason got engaged. We’d stayed in touch over the years (she was one of my first followers), and when she told me it wouldn’t feel right to have anyone else shoot their wedding, I immediately recognized the full-circle beauty of the moment. From those random Moraine Lake photos to documenting their wedding nearly four years later—it was an incredible honour.

Their wedding at The Glen at Crossmount near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was overflowing with emotion and timeless moments. One of my favourite details? The flat lay. Jeeha curated a box of special items—invites, jewelry, vow books—that allowed me to document the little things that are often overlooked. I used her veil and the sunlight to create dreamy shadows over each item (check out the photos below!).

Getting ready with her mom was emotional and sweet, and her dad’s first look brought all the tears. Jeeha and Jason shared a first touch and prayer around a corner before the ceremony, one of the most meaningful moments of the day. And when she walked down the aisle, not a single eye was dry. Jason was a beautiful mess (in the best way), and her bridesmaids couldn’t hold back their tears either.

After the ceremony, we captured photos around the property before heading into a heartfelt reception filled with speeches and celebration. The night ended with a private dance outdoors under thunder, lightning, and a little bit of rain, an unforgettable, cinematic ending. And yes, their late-night McDonald's snack run was the perfect touch that shows just how cool this couple really is.

A few days later, I sent them their sneak peek gallery. They received it while heading to their honeymoon in, yep, Banff. They waited to open the gallery until they arrived, and the fact that they received their first impromptu photos from me and their wedding gallery in the same magical place... well, that’s a pretty darn good story.
